National Network of Promotoras and CHWs
Since 2000, Visión y Compromiso has been a nationally respected leader in improving the health and well-being of underrepresented communities. We drive community transformation by integrating promotoras and community health workers (CHWs) into health and social service systems. Our national network unites promotoras, CHWs, community leaders, and community-based organizations across the U.S. to advance a shared vision of dignity and health for all.
How We Support the National Network
We provide training, leadership and advocacy opportunities, to strengthen the impact of promotoras, CHWs, and community leaders nationwide. Our current initiatives include:
Monthly Virtual Cafés—cafecitos virtuales
- A dedicated space for promotoras and CHWs from across the U.S.
- Held on Zoom, the first Wednesday of every month (90 minutes).
- Facilitated in Spanish, these sessions provide opportunities to share resources and information and receive training.
Policy Advocacy Support
- Identify and advance advocacy priorities at state and national levels.
- Provide one-on-one technical assistance for community-based organizations.
- Offer guidance on state and federal 501(c)(3) advocacy regulations to ensure full participation in the policymaking process.
- Bring promotoras to Washington DC, for education and advocacy visits with congressional representatives.
Our Reach
The National Network is active in 30 states, including every HRSA designated region in the U.S. We celebrate and uplift the incredible work of promotoras, CHWs, and community leaders who serve their communities with servicio de corazón (service from the heart).
