Mobile Outreach for Value, Equity, and Sustainability
Visión y Compromiso was founded 25 years ago with the vision of hacia una vida digna y sana—towards a healthy and dignified life. Today, our mission is to advance the health and well-being of underrepresented communities by supporting promotoras, trusted community members who serve their communities con corazón, from the heart. Visión y Compromiso builds the leadership of promotoras and community health workers as trusted experts who educate, advocate, and drive meaningful community change.
The MOVES Program (Mobile Outreach for Value, Equity, and Sustainability) is a community-centered initiative designed to bring health care services and social support directly to people where they live, learn, work, play, and worship. MOVES uses mobile vans to activate local partnerships, and implement promotoras-led outreach to improve access to care for California’s most vulnerable and underserved communities. Visión y Compromiso’s Promotoras Van,as we call in Spanish our mobile van —is part of MOVES, HealthnNet’s broader mobility strategy. The goal of the program is to create meaningful, lasting change for individuals and communities experiencing the greatest health disparities.
By combining mobile health services with strong community partnerships, MOVES works to:
- Improve access to quality health care
- Address unmet social and health-related needs
- Reduce racial and ethnic health disparities
- Support healthier, longer, and more fulfilling lives across Los Angeles County
